THE LAKES REGION is a combination of New England villages and resort areas offering activities, recreation and attractions.

TEMPERATURES average 68 degrees during summer months to 22 degrees in winter.

LAKE WINNIPESAUKEE is the centerpiece of the Lakes Region, which is home to 274 islands.  At 72 square miles, Winnipesaukee is the largest freshwater lake in the continental U.S. contained in only one state.


LOCATED in the geographical center of New Hampshire.  Interstate Access is via I93. Typical driving times are:

Boston:

2 hours

Hartford

3 1/2 hours

Montreal

3 1/2 hours

New York

4 hours

Providence

3 hours

Portland

1 3/4 hours

Boston's Logan Airport is only a 2 hour drive. Portland International Jetport is 1 3/4 hour drive and New Hampshire's own Manchester Airport is a short 45 minute drive.

LACONIA is the largest city in the Lakes region.  It is known as the "City of the Lakes," fronting on Lakes Winnipesaukee, Winnisquam and Opechee.  A county seat, Laconia is home to Lakes Region General Hospital and Laconia Municipal Airport.
